Joseph Clark was a painter of domestic genre, usually of children. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1857 to 1904. He received a medal and award at Philadelphia in 1876 for his "Sick Child" and "The Bird's Nest".

He is listed in Who's Who in 1912.
