Fred Hall
(1860 - 1948)

Fred Hall was one of the earliest members of the Newlyn community where he worked continuously out of doors. He had long been interested in French impressionism and his pictures began to reflect his fascination with Claude Monet’s work. In 1904 he moved to London but from 1908 onwards he painted in Berkshire where he made the English scene almost exclusively his subject. His work evolved into a more atmospheric approach where his pictures included more dominate landscapes.
